Frequently Asked Questions

Here are the answers to some of the questions we often get asked.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the ‘Smooth Operators’ duo?
In a nutshell; a musical duo comprising a delightful female singer and a talented pianist/singer who perform tasteful and sophisticated music for private and corporate functions of all kinds

What type of events are you suitable for?
We are suitable for a variety of events, particularly weddings and anniversaries. We are also a great choice for sophisticated private parties of all types, drinks receptions and corporate functions.

How long do you play and sing for?
Within reason, as long as you like! We usually play two or three sets of up to one hour each, but timings and set lengths are fully negotiable

How far do you travel?
We are based in East Sussex but we are happy to travel anywhere in the UK and beyond.

How much space do you need to set up in and how long does it take to set up?
If we use our specially adapted baby grand piano, the ideal playing area would be not smaller than 10ft wide x 8ft deep (3M x 2.5M). If space is restricted we can supply a ‘stage’ piano which takes up less room. We like to allow 90 minutes for setting up and carrying out a short sound check.

Are you insured?
Yes, we carry Public Liability Insurance and all our equipment is PAT tested.

Do you have any requirements?
We need access to a mains power supply, a single power socket somewhere near the performance area is all we need. If possible, it’s nice to have access to a room where we can get changed and leave our cases etc. If you would like us to perform outside we would need to be on a hard standing (not the grass). That’s about it really, although, if we’ve had a long journey, a cup of tea would be nice!

How do I book ‘Smooth Operators’
Bookings and enquires can be made simply by phoning or sending us an email. We’ll offer you a quote and, if it’s acceptable, send you an agreement and that’s it done! We don’t usually ask for a deposit although sometimes, if there are travel and hotel costs involved we might ask for those in advance.
